Celebrating the Joyous 2023 Eleftheria Holiday Party
On Sunday, December 17th, the Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club (EPSC) transformed St. Demetrios in Astoria into a hub of festive celebration for our annual Holiday Party. With over 400 attendees, including players and their families, this year's event was a resounding success filled with joy and camaraderie.
Hall of Fame Induction for Effie Pavlakos
One of the highlights of the evening was the induction of Effie Pavlakos into the prestigious Eleftheria Hall of Fame. Effie's remarkable contributions as a former player, coach, and long-standing club member were celebrated, honoring her dedication to the club and the sport of soccer.
Outstanding Service Awards for Evros Kavazis and Pauline Georgiadis
The Holiday Party was also an occasion to recognize two other outstanding individuals. Evros Kavazis received a well-deserved Outstanding Service Award for his unwavering support of Eleftheria and his long-standing commitment to the club. Pauline Georgiadis was also honored with an Outstanding Service Award for her remarkable contributions and her enduring membership with EPSC.
Special Guest Alexis Guerreros and Santa Claus
The party was graced by a special guest, Alexis Guerreros, co-host of the Morning Footy podcast on the CBS Sports Golazo Network and one of the hosts of The Cooligans. Alexis added an extra dose of excitement as he introduced none other than Santa Claus himself. However, this Santa had a unique twist – he was none other than Coach Paul Kontonis, who won the parent's vote narrowly beating out Coach Billy Antoniou and Coach Mateo Camargo to portray Santa Claus for the evening.
Gift Bags and Festive Fun
The children at the EPSC Holiday Party were in for a treat as they each received a special gift bag. These bags doubled as shoe bags and contained a water bottle, a stress ball inspired by the 2012 players, and a size 3 soccer ball for honing their technical skills. It was a delightful surprise that brought smiles to the faces of all the young players.
