Eleftheria Heads to Spain and Cyprus for Cultural and Athletic Exchanges in 2024
As winter break 2024 approaches, the Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club is gearing up for exciting international journeys that will see a 2008-select boys' team making their way to Cyprus while our talented 2007 boys' team heading to Spain. This unique opportunity not only highlights the club's commitments to fostering young talent but also underscores the importance of cultural exchange and global sportsmanship in youth soccer. As these young athletes prepare to compete on international soil, they carry with them the hopes and aspirations of their club, ready to showcase their skills against a backdrop of new cultures and challenging competitors.
The trip to Cyprus is an annual event hosted by Eleftheria Pancyprian and the government of Cyprus. During their stay from February 16-26, 2024, the group will engage in both soccer and cultural activities. The group will immerse in the rich cultural tapestry of Cyprus through guided tours of Pano Paphos, the House of Dionysos and Paphos Mosaics, Omodos village, and the ancient theater of Kourion, among other sites. They will also experience traditional Cypriot culinary practices firsthand and explore significant historical and educational sites, including the Old Town of Nicosia, the Glaukos Cleridis Museum, and the Cyprus Planetarium, enriching their visit with a blend of athletic rigor and cultural discovery.
Under the guidance of coaches Steve Batalas and Billy Antoniou, the soccer itinerary includes multiple training sessions and friendly matches against Geroskipou FC, AEL Limassol Academy, Anorthosis Famagusta, Nicosia Sports School and Apoel Academy. Experiences that will last a lifetime.
Meanwhile our 2007 team led by coaches Paul Kontonis, Josefina Velez Tirado and Yusuf Adib will be traveling to Madrid where the team will engage in a dream soccer itinerary from February 16-23, 2024. The team will train at Real Madrid 's Valdebebas academy complex with Real Madrid coaches to learn what it takes to be a youth player at Real Madrid. The team will also be trained by top Spanish academy E.F. Huesca to prepare for friendly matches against CDF Tres Cantos, CD Leganes and Alcobendas CF. The experience will be topped off with Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid stadium tours and tickets to the Madrid derby of Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.
