EPSC , NYPF and FDNY Team Up for CPR Training
At Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club (EPSC) and the New York Pancyprian Freedoms, the safety of our players and community is our top priority. In our ongoing commitment to creating a safe and secure environment, on Monday, October 30th we hosted a CPR training class in our clubhouse in collaboration with the Fire Department of New York (FDNY). This event was an essential step in educating our coaches, managers, administrators, and parents about life-saving skills that can make a significant difference in times of need.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a vital skill that can mean the difference between life and death in emergency situations. It is an essential technique that combines chest compressions and rescue breaths to maintain blood circulation and oxygenation when someone's heart and breathing have stopped. In a critical moment, knowing how to perform CPR can save lives.
"Our commitment to safety and education is at the core of our club's values. We believe that equipping our coaches, administrators, and parents with CPR skills is a crucial step in ensuring the well-being of our community,’ said Billy Antoniou, Executive Director, EPSC. “This training aligns with our dedication to providing the best possible environment for our players both on and off the field."
”It’s always a pleasure being able to come out and teach other the life saving skill of CPR. We are always an email or a phone call away,” said Lt. Willie Bedoya, Administrative Officer, CPR Training Unit, FDNY Bureau Of Training.
The CPR training class was attended by coaches, managers, administrators, and parents, demonstrating our collective commitment to the safety of our players and our community. By equipping ourselves with CPR skills, we are better prepared to respond effectively in cases of sudden cardiac events, choking incidents, or other emergencies.
“We would like to extend special thanks to the FDNY instructors for their exceptional commitment and attention to detail throughout the training. Their hands-on demonstrations and comprehensive explanations made it easy for both our young players and coaching staff to understand the vital life-saving techniques of CPR. Their skill in simplifying complex procedures empowered us all with invaluable knowledge,” added Parry Ermogenous, Board of Directors, EPSC.
This CPR training, organized by EPSC’s Voula Daviotis, is just one of many steps we've taken to enhance our coaching and administrative staff's capabilities. We recently hosted the US Soccer Grassroots Soccer 7v7 licensing course, providing essential education and certification to new coaches. Our dedication to education extends beyond the field, ensuring that our community is well-prepared for any situation.
EPSC and the New York Pancyprian Freedoms will continue to prioritize the safety of our players and community. Equipping our members with CPR skills is just one way we demonstrate our commitment to creating a secure and thriving environment. Together, we are building a safer and stronger community.
