EPSC asks Parents to Take the Sideline Pledge

Take the pledge at The Sideline Project.

The Soccer Parenting Association announced the Cosmopolitan Junior. Soccer League (CJSL) as a partner for The Sideline Project, a free movement to improve youth soccer sidelines for players, parents, coaches and referees to keep more children active in sports and healthy for life. As a distinguished CJSL member club, Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club (EPSC) is supporting The Sideline Project initiative and challenging all our parents to take the pledge.

“Our role as a youth league is to provide proper competitions for our clubs, and to assist our clubs in developing proper sideline behavior,” said Ron Restrepo, CJSL President. “It is extremely important that we improve the experience for all involved, players, coaches, referees and parents."

“We strongly believe in the power of positive encouragement from the sidelines towards our players,” says Paul Kontonis, EPSC Director of Club Development and CJSL Vice President . “When parents and spectators yell instructions during the game it only serves to distract and demoralize the players that are trying their best to play and listen to their coach.”

EPSC parents and spectators are asked to watch the short video to learn about sideline behavior, read the pledge, add their name to the Pledge Wall to make youth soccer better, together.

Reducing players distractions from the sidelines is a critical EPSC initiative and was recently highlighted to the parents and players in the Spring 2022 update.
