Five Unanswered Goals Against Zum Schneider Moves Panycprians into First Place

In a midweek fixture at Queens College, the New York Pancyprian Freedoms (11-0-2) made their move into first place with a 5-0 win over Zum Schneider FC (9-1-4). The victory puts the NYPF tied on points with NY Greek Americans (12-0-2), but ahead on their head to head record, perched at the top of the Eastern Premier Soccer League Metropolitan Division. The opening goal came in the 17th minute from a beautiful guided shot by NYPF’s Joseph Holland that swerved its way into the top right corner. Holland would get his brace converting a penalty kick in the 23rd minute. Sameer Fathazada scored in the 29th minuted to make it 3-0 by halftime. In the second half, goals from Rafael Bustamenti and Michalis Clark to finish the game at 5-0.

“The boys came prepared tonight to show their full capabilities which meant this win was never in doubt,” said Panos Onisiforou, NYPF Head Coach. “From here to the end of the season we will play every game likes it’s the final.”

The NYPF play the NY Greek Americans on Thursday, April 20th at Hofstra University in a game that ensures the NYPF have first place with room in the standings. The NYPF won 2-0 against the NY Greek Americans when they last played on November 20th.
