Halloween Havoc: New York Pancyprian Freedoms Soar to the Top of the Metropolitan Conference
On a spooky Hellenic Halloween night at Queens College, the New York Pancyprian Freedoms delivered a thrilling performance that sent chills down their opponent's spine. Dominating the pitch, they secured a commanding victory over a ten-man Doxa SC with a resounding score of 6-0. The night's standout performances included Shavon John Brown, who is now the third-highest scorer in the league with 9 goals, and Johannes Pex, who contributed with another fantastic brace.
The night started with dark omens for Doxa SC as they saw a red card in the first half, leaving them a man down. Frustration grew as multiple yellow cards were dished out, a testament to the relentless pressure applied by the Pancyprians. “It’s always good to beat anyone 6-0, but when its a Greek derby it’s even better,” said Panos Onisiforou, Head Coach, NYPF, in his post match interview with Game In Frame. “For them [Doxa] it was more than a game…to beat them was very enjoyable.”
With this emphatic victory, the New York Pancyprian Freedoms have ascended to the summit of the Metropolitan Conference of the Eastern Premier Soccer League. They currently lead the standings by a 2-point margin after seven games. The New York Pancyprian Freedoms next play Suffolk County FC (1-2-4) in the Metropolitan Conference of the EPSL on Sunday, November 5th, 8pm kickoff, at Belson Stadium. And in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, the New York Pancyprian Freedoms will play Massachusetts’ Bay State Soccer League (BSSL) team Brockton FC United in the fourth and final qualifying round on November 18th at Belson Stadium.
