New York Pancyprian Freedoms Advance to Manning Cup Semi-finals with 2-0 Victory Over Zum

In a highly anticipated round of 8 matchup in the 2024 Eastern New York State Soccer Association (ENYSSA) Dr. Manning Cup, the New York Pancyprian Freedoms demonstrated their soccer prowess by defeating Zum Schneider FC with a convincing scoreline of 2-0. The game, held at Roosevelt Island, showcased the Pancyprians' skill, determination, and championship pedigree.

From the opening whistle, it was evident that both teams were eager to secure a spot in the coveted Manning Cup semi-finals. The Pancyprian Freedoms, defending their Manning Cup victory earlier this year, displayed the composure and confidence of defending champions, while Zum Schneider FC sought to make a statement of their own.

The match saw a well-balanced contest with both teams creating opportunities, but it was the Pancyprians who broke the deadlock. In the first half, Camil Koreichi fired a shot into the back of the net, giving the Freedoms a 1-0 lead. The goal sent a surge of energy through the Pancyprian faithful in attendance, who knew their team was inching closer to another Manning Cup title.

As the game progressed into the second half, Zum Schneider FC tried to mount a comeback. They created several goal-scoring opportunities, but the Pancyprian defense, anchored by a resolute backline and stellar goalkeeping from Rafael Diaz, held firm. The Pancyprian Freedoms maintained their focus and composure, showing their championship mettle.

The icing on the cake came in the second half when Joseph Holland found the back of the net. His goal extended the Pancyprian lead to 2-0, effectively sealing the victory for the defending champions. It was a testament to the Pancyprians' ability to capitalize on their scoring chances.

The final whistle signaled that the Pancyprian Freedoms had secured a place in the Manning Cup semi-finals where they will face another formidable opponent, Lansdowne Yonkers FC, in what promises to be an intense encounter on December 3rd. "We approached this game with focus and determination, and I'm proud of the team's performance. The win against Zum Schneider FC is a testament to our hard work and commitment to defending our Manning Cup title," said Panos Onisiforou, Head Coach, New York Pancyprian Freedoms.

The New York Pancyprian Freedoms next play on Saturday, November 18th in the fourth qualifying round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup versus Massachusetts’ Bay State Soccer League (BSSL) team Brockton FC United. Kick off is at 8pm.
