New York Pancyprian Freedoms Advance to Manning Cup Semifinals with 1-0 Win Over Manhattan Celtic

The New York Pancyprian Freedoms continued their quest to defend the Manning Cup title, securing a gritty 1-0 victory over EPSL rival Manhattan Celtic in the Round of 8. A tightly contested match at its core, the Freedoms were unrelenting in their control of the pitch, limiting Manhattan Celtic’s offensive opportunities and keeping the game squarely in their hands.

The game’s decisive moment came in the 73rd minute, with a perfectly timed goal by Rafael Bustamenti that broke the deadlock and set the Pancyprians on course for the win. Although the Freedoms had numerous chances throughout the game to extend their lead, they were unable to fully capitalize on their opportunities. However, their organized play and strategic dominance left Manhattan Celtic with little room to threaten.

Head Coach Andreas Chronis expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, highlighting their defensive strength and ability to control the game’s pace. "We showed great composure and discipline," Chronis remarked. "Even though we didn’t make the most of all our opportunities, I’m proud of the way we controlled the game and stayed focused."

The Pancyprians’ drive and focus in this round reflect the commitment of the reigning champions to retain their title. With their eyes set firmly on the cup, they now prepare for a highly anticipated semifinal clash in the Manning Cup against Doxa FCW.

Over in the Strump Cup, the NYPF II defeated NYC AlphaStars 4-0 with a brace from new signing Henrik Ropstad. Next the NYPF II take on the College Point Flames of the LISFL in the Round of 8.
