New York Pancyprian Freedoms Dominate Central Park Rangers FC in Season Opener
The New York Pancyprian Freedoms kicked off their Metropolitan Conference campaign in the Eastern Premier Soccer League with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Central Park Rangers FC on Sunday, September 8th. The match at Roosevelt Island saw the Freedoms assert their dominance from the opening whistle, leaving little doubt about their ambitions.
The game burst into life in the 15th minute when Rafael Bustamenti opened the scoring, setting the tone for what was to come. Just two minutes later, Matthew Forster doubled the lead, applying relentless pressure on Central Park Rangers and leaving the defense in disarray.
As the first half progressed, the Freedoms continued to dictate play, and in the 30th minute, James Tristino netted the team’s third goal. His clinical finish provided a cushion going into halftime, solidifying the team’s control of the match.
Central Park Rangers FC struggled to find any foothold, and the Freedoms' commanding performance was further highlighted in the 72nd minute when Junior Rosero sealed the victory with a well-taken goal to make it 4-0.
The New York Pancyprian Freedoms will look to carry this momentum into their match against SC Vistula Garfield on Saturday, September 14th with a 6pm kickoff at Garfield High School in New Jersey.
The New York Pancyprian Freedoms II also played their home opener on Sunday securing a 2-1 victory against Manhattan Celtic Bhoys at Pier 40. Gerasimos Tzanetatos and Andreas Antoniades provided the goals that ensured the win. The NYPF II next play Central Park Rangers on Sunday, September 15th at Randalls Island starting at 5pm.
