New York Pancyprian Freedoms Smash Tobacco Road FC 5-1 to Secure Spot in USASA National Amateur Cup Finals

In an exhilarating semi-final match of the USASA National Amateur Cup, the New York Pancyprian Freedoms triumphed over Tobacco Road FC of North Carolina with a commanding 5-1 victory to advance to the finals. The match, held on Thursday, July 25th at Northern Illinois University, showcased the Freedoms' exceptional skill and determination.

Junior Rosero opened the scoring for the NYPF with a clutch goal in the 37th minute, setting the tone for what would be a dominant performance. James Tristino added to the tally with a goal in stoppage time of the first half (45+2'). Rosero struck again in the 61st minute with a rocket goal that made it to ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays of the day. Jordan Bailon further extended the lead with a goal in the 75th minute,. Tristino lifted another in the 80th minute ensuring a decisive victory for the NYPF.

Head coach Panos Onisiforou expressed his pride and satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "This victory is built on the hard work and dedication of our players. We knew what was at stake, and the boys delivered magnificently. We’re one step closer to our goal, and I couldn’t be prouder."

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the National Amateur Cup, making the NYPF''s journey even more momentous. As they celebrate their 50th anniversary, the New York Pancyprian Freedoms have yet to lift this prestigious cup and claim this national title after having won the National Amateur Open Cup, aka Werder Fricker Cup, in 2008, 2010, and 2011. This semi-final victory brings them tantalizingly close to achieving that long-awaited dream.

As they prepare for the final match on Saturday, July 27th against Milwaukee Torrent FC, the New York Pancyprian Freedoms carry the hopes and support of their dedicated fans, aiming to etch further into national soccer history. The journey has been challenging, but the ultimate prize is within reach. The stage is set for a thrilling final, and the Pacyprians are ready to rise to the occasion.
