NY Pancyprian Freedoms Advancing to the Championships
As we approach the end of the May, the 2021/2022 season has ended for each of our NY Pancyprian Freedoms teams in the Eastern Premier Soccer League (EPSL) and and Cosmopolitan Soccer League (CSL). This has been a spectacular year for our teams.
Starting with our first team, the NY Pancyprian Freedoms (NYPF) ended with 14 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses, and in second place of the Metropolitan Conference of the EPSL matching their second place achievement last year. The NYPF are now moving into the conference playoffs leading to the EPSL Championship to be held on June 25th-26th. Last year the NYPF lost to Lansdowne Yonkers FC in the championship final. All expectations are that the NYPF will go on and win the conference championship against the top teams from the Northeast, Delaware, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast conferences of the EPSL.
From last place to 2nd place, the NY Pancyprian Freedoms II (NYPF II) posted their best record since prior to 2014 with 12 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses to lock up second place in Division 4 of the CSL. Now the team is entering the semi-finals of the playoffs to secure promotion to Division 3.
With their best performance since the 2018/2019 season, NY Pancyprian Freedoms Over 30 (NYPF O30) also achieved a second place finish with 11 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses. The NYPF O30 will now play in the quarter finals playoffs for the Division 3 championship against the first and second place teams of the Central, West and East Conferences.
“Our commitment to our fans, teams and players has been unparalleled this season,” said Panos Onisiforou, head coach of the NYPF. “And with the incredible support of our leadership, board of directors and sponsors, we have shown that our teams can produce top results.”
The NYPF O30 are also vying for the Gerhard Mengel National Over 30 Cup as they advanced to the regional final of the cup on June 19th against Christos FC from Maryland. League champions, promotion and cup victories all await our teams in the post season. Let’s go blue!
