Technical Training in the NYCFC Futsal Court in Astoria

As part of Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club’s approach to developing a complete free thinking soccer player, weekly training has begin at the NYCFC Futsal court under the Triborough Bridge in Astoria, New York City. On Wednesday, September 14th, the EPSC U10-13 boys were the first teams to start off the new technical training addition to the team trainings at Astoria Park and St. Michael’s playground in Queens.

“Futsal gives the EPSC playing the opportunity to build their comfort level with the ball,” said Billy Antoniou, EPSC Director of Coaching. “We use the futsal format, space and ball to improve technical ability in a fast paced environment.”

The technical is in addition to the 2-3 nights of team training on the soccer field along with weekly speed, agility and quickness training. We believe players need to have the skills and physicality to support their in-the-game decisions and to express their creativity. Our teams are expected to play competitive soccer based on ball possession, with players free to improvise and create while maintaining their tactical balance.

EPSC is an NYCFC Youth Program partner for the 2022/2023 season and this gives our players opportunities to see, play and learn soccer in outstanding and unforgettable ways.
