The NYPF Lift the 2022 Werner Fricker Cup!
The NY Pancyprian Freedoms get their first silverware for the season with a 2-0 win over Lansdowne Yonkers FC in the 2022 US Adult Soccer Asscoiation Region 1 Werner Fricker Cup, the Amateur Open Championship. The game was played at Tibbets Field, home field of Lansdowne, in Yonkers, New York.
The NY Pancyprian Freedoms came out strong and looked to control the game early. An opening goal from finals game talisman Charlie Ledula was followed by a goal from Federico DeOliveira was more than enough to silence their Metropolitan Division Eastern Premier Soccer League rivals.
In a statement issued to the players, NYPF Head Coach Panos Onisforou said, “Congratulations on an amazing win last night! Always good to get silverware and win on their home ground. I am extremely pound of everyone, the depth and quality of our team is by far the best. As long as we work hard off the ball and keep it simple on the ball there is no stopping us.”
The NYPF will get a chance to beat Lansdowne Yonkers FC for a third time when they play their EPSL league matchup on Tuesday, 29th November back at Tibbets Field in Yonkers, New york. The NYPF won 3-2 on November 14th at Belson Stadium in Round of 8 of the ENYSSA Manning Cup open to all Premier Division teams.
